Aeropostale Inc.: SEC Investigates Former Executive
A former executive of clothes retailer Aeropostale Inc. who was fired for alleged conflicts of interest is now the subject of a formal Securities and Exchange Commission investigation, the company said. New York-based Aeropostale fired Christopher L. Finazzo as its chief merchandising officer in November 2006 for allegedly concealing his ties to South Bay Apparel Inc., one of Aeropostale's largest vendors at the time. Aeropostale alleged that Mr. Finazzo had violated his employment contract and the company's ethics code by secretly working as an executive of a South Bay affiliate and by owning an interest in the affiliate. Aeropostale disclosed in an SEC filing that the agency is investigating the matter to determine whether legal violations have occurred. Mr. Finazzo couldn't be reached to comment.
