Barclays Host And PGA Tour Reach a Deal
Full Text (165 words)SAN DIEGO -- Westchester Country Club and the PGA Tour have settled their dispute over the club's hosting of the Barclays tournament. The Barclays, the first of four events in the PGA Tour's playoffs for the FedEx Cup, will move from Westchester, in Harrison, N.Y., to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., for this year's event, scheduled for Aug. 18-24.
Under the terms of an amended agreement, the event will return to Westchester at least once before 2012. It is scheduled to be played at Liberty National in Jersey City in 2009, with the rotation for 2010 and beyond to be announced at that time.
Terms of the settlement with Westchester Country Club were not announced. The PGA Tour had offered Westchester a $1 million settlement for changing the original deal's terms. By moving the Barclays, a $7 million event, the PGA Tour interrupted a relationship with Westchester that dated to 1967, when Jack Nicklaus won the inaugural event by a stroke over Dan Sikes.
