KNOLL Inc. (East Greenville, Pa.) -- Lynn M. Utter was named president and chief operating officer of Knoll North America, a unit of this furnishings retailer, effective on or about March 3. Ms. Utter, 45, succeeds Kass Bradley. Ms. Bradley is retiring but will work closely with Ms. Utter until May 23, and will remain a director. Ms. Utter was chief strategy officer at Coors Brewing Co, a unit of Molson Coors Brewing Co.

NEWS CORP. (New York) -- Mark Hurd was named to the board of this media company, effective immediately. Mr. Hurd, 51, is chairman and chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co. He succeeds Rod Paige. Mr. Paige, 74, a former Secretary of Education, resigned but will remain a consultant on educational matters. The board stands at 16 members. News Corp. owns Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal.
