Mr. Schur, 56 years old, is a Danish citizen and the owner of consumer-products company Fritz Schur Gruppen. He would succeed the current chairman, Egil Myklebust, who has told SAS he wants to step down.
SAS said Mr. Schur has held a large number of assignments as a board member and board chairman, among them: chairman of Denmark's state- owned postal-service company, utility DONG Energy A/S, and dairy company F. Uhrenholt Holding A/S.
The SAS nomination committee has also proposed that Dag Mejdell, chief executive of the Norwegian postal service, should be elected as a new board member.
SAS holders will make a final decision about the chairman and board members at the annual general meeting April 9.
SAS stock fell 1.5 Swedish kronors (23 cents), or 2.8%, to 51.25 in Stockholm.
