PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Three former lead-paint makers that lost a landmark lawsuit brought by the state have asked Rhode Island's highest court to overturn the verdict. The companies, including Sherwin-Williams Co., say the trial judge excluded relevant evidence while permitting prejudicial testimony against them. The verdict requires them to remove lead paint contamination from homes and buildings.
