Sauce Is Only for Goose, Never Mind Us Ganders

You have to admire the chutzpah involved in the AFL-CIO plan to require companies to disclose political contributions so shareholders can see if support is being given to candidates who don't share labor's views on health care ("The New Labor Activism," by Eugene Scalia, op-ed, Jan. 23). The unions have for years fought similar demands from their own members regarding the political support given by the unions to candidates who do not share the membership's view on many issues. Why John Sweeney and his friends feel they are immune to the same requirements they place on others is a complete unknown, but that they do is all too obvious.
