Turner, NBA Set Digital-Rights Pact
A WSJ News Roundup
Turner Broadcasting Systems announced that it will manage much of the National Basketball Association's digital business, a move that expands Turner's broadcast relationship with the league.
Turner provides similar Web services for the Professional Golfers Association and Nascar.
Under the agreement, Turner, a Time Warner Inc. unit, will oversee the NBA's areas such as programming, marketing and technical operations for the league's television network, NBA TV, as well the league's Web sites and domestic broadband wireless business. Turner and the NBA will jointly sell advertising for all digital assets.
This digital relationship takes effect for the 2008-09 season and will run through the 2015-16 season, the same time Turner's national TV deal with the NBA expires.
