Parker Gets Lehman Post
NEW YORK -- Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. named Paul G. Parker global co-head of mergers and acquisitions. He will run the investment-banking unit with current M&A boss, Mark Shafir, who was given the additional title of chairman of global mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Parker had been head of M&A in the U.S., which has been growing faster than the broader business.
Lehman slipped to ninth-largest adviser on merger deals globally, ranked by size of the transactions, from eighth in 2006, according to Thomson Financial. In the U.S., the fourth-biggest investment bank's M&A advisory group ranked third, up from fifth place in 2006.
Mr. Shafir has run mergers and acquisitions since 2003. He and Mr. Parker worked on Cingular Wireless's purchase of AT&T Wireless Services among other high-profile acquisitions.
