BEIJING -- London Stock Exchange Group PLC will open an office in Beijing tomorrow in the hope of attracting more listings from Chinese companies, people familiar with the situation said.

The office is the latest sign of growing competition among exchanges to woo Chinese listings. LSE follows NYSE Euronext, operator of the New York Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq Stock Market Inc., both of which set up offices in mainland China last year.

LSE has 68 Chinese companies listed on its exchanges, making London the biggest location overseas by number of companies for Chinese equity trading outside Hong Kong.
