Swedish truck maker AB Volvo said it appointed the head of its North American construction-equipment operations, Dennis Slagle, president and chief executive of American subsidiary Mack Trucks.
Mr. Slagle, 53 years old, succeeds Paul Vikner, who will retire April 1. Mr. Vikner will remain a member of the Volvo group executive committee until the end of July. He also will become vice chairman of Mack Trucks and continue to work for the Volvo group in the U.S. as an adviser on public-affairs issues.
Mr. Slagle, a 25-year veteran of the construction equipment industry, will become a member of Volvo's group executive committee. Volvo acquired Mack Trucks, Allentown, Pa., in 2001.
