Japan: Pull More Weight

Besides rejoining the war against terrorism ("Japan Sails Again," Review & Outlook," Jan. 14) it is time to ask Japan to rejoin the "Big League" of nations and assume the responsibility which comes with it. The war has been over for more than 60 years. Japan has joined and become interwoven with the economic world and would not consider leaving it. Japan certainly has enough money, respect and power to help secure peace in the world. That would seem to be logical considering the 1,000-pound bear a few hundred miles away whose plans are all not clear -- or reliable.
