The Department of Defense has identified 3,922 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans on Sunday:

BIRKMAN, Tracy R., 41, Sgt., Army; New Castle, Va.; 101st Airborne Division.

CROOKSTON, Duncan C., 19, Pfc., Army; Denver; First Infantry Division.
