First stop: Jerusalem, whose foundation harbors a hidden occult city built by the Knights Templar and a hiding place for the Dead Sea Scrolls. At 10 Ancient Discoveries begins a new season with a visit to the bottom of the ocean in Mega Structures of the Deep.

9:30 P.M. (HBO) IN TREATMENT Gabriel Byrne plays Paul Weston, a psychotherapist and family man who appears successful but whose professional and personal lives are on the rocks. This new series, broadcast Monday through Friday for nine weeks -- yes, a 45-episode season -- follows Paul's weekly sessions. Monday nights belong to Laura (Melissa George), a beautiful anesthesiologist who talks about the real motivations for her sordid encounter with a stranger at a bar -- not least, her infatuation with Paul. Other patients: Blair Underwood as Alex (Tuesdays), Mia Wasikowska as Sophie (Wednesdays) and Josh Charles and Embeth Davidtz as Jake and Amy (Thursdays). Friday nights bring Paul's sessions with his own therapist, Dr. Gina Toll (Dianne Wiest), with whom he has more than a little history. Michelle Forbes is Kate, Paul's long-suffering wife.

10 P.M. (MTV) MAKING THE BAND 4 The band mates -- Michael, Robert, Brian, Willie and Qwanell -- move back into the penthouse and prepare to record their debut album. But in a surprise move the men will have to compete against the female pop group Danity Kane, the winners of Making the Band 3, who will also live in the apartment while they work on their own album.
