Re One Argument, 12 Million Holes (editorial, Jan. 18):
A policy of attrition would have undocumented immigrants willingly leave the country after being subject to severe enforcement measures in their homes and workplaces.
According to a 2004 study by the Urban Institute, about three million children who are American citizens live in households with at least one undocumented parent.
What is to become of these children if a policy of attrition is implemented?
