Marco Sullivan of the United States won the downhill Saturday in Chamonix, France, to claim his first World Cup victory. The 27-year-old Sullivan covered the 2.08-mile Verte des Houches course in 2 minutes 0.11 seconds. Didier Cuche of Switzerland, the World Cup downhill leader, was 0.40 back, and Andrej Jerman of Slovenia was third. Bode Miller was seventh in 2:00.91
