Tilghman Returns After Suspension

Full Text (160  words)

The Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman returned from a two-week, unpaid suspension Thursday and apologized for using the word lynch on a Jan. 4 broadcast when she and Nick Faldo were discussing how younger golfers could challenge Tiger Woods.

Over the last two weeks, I've taken the time to reflect and truly understand the impact of what I said, Tilghman said somberly during a 23-second statement that was briefly inaudible because of a technical glitch.

While I did not intend to offend anyone, I understand why those words were hurtful. I am terribly sorry for any hurt that I've caused. I would like to express my deepest apologies.

Tilghman made her remarks at the start of the network's coverage of the Buick Invitational in San Diego. She has not said anything further about the incident.

Woods described Tilghman's use of lynch as unfortunate earlier this week and said, She regrets saying it and, in my eyes, it's all said and done.
