BMW AG: January U.S. Sales Fall, But Mini Had 20% Rise

Full Text (85  words)

BMW AG said its U.S. sales in January fell 22% from a year earlier, blaming low inventory levels after a strong pre-Christmas performance. The Munich-based auto maker said it sold 16,935 cars in the U.S. last month, down from the 21,811 cars a year earlier. The drop was attributed to lower-than-normal inventory levels due to stronger December sales. Monthly sales of BMW-branded cars fell 29%, while sales of what BMW calls sports-activity vehicles fell 19%. Its Mini USA unit, however, saw a 20% sales rise.
