ALBERTO-CULVER Co. (Melrose Park, Ill.) -- Gina Boswell was named president of global brands of this beauty company. The post is new. Ms. Boswell, 45 years old, was senior vice president and chief operating officer for the North America division of Avon Products Inc. At Alberto-Culver, Ms. Boswell will oversee brands such as TRESemme and Nexxus hair-care lines and report to Chief Executive V. James Marino. Following her departure from Avon, Ms. Boswell's position was eliminated amid a reshuffling of management.

BOEING Co. (Chicago) -- John Lockard was named to the new position of chief operating officer of Integrated Defense Systems, a unit of this aircraft maker. Mr. Lockard, 63, was president of IDS's Precision Engagement and Mobility Systems business. He is succeeded by Chris Chadwick. Mr. Chadwick, 47, headed IDS's Global Strike Systems business. Dan Korte, 47, was named vice president and general manager, Global Strike Systems, succeeding Mr. Chadwick. Dennis Muilenburg was named president of IDS's Support Systems business. Mr. Muilenburg, 44, led the Combat Systems division and Future Combat Systems program. He succeeds Pat Finneran, 62, who was named vice president, operations and supplier management, of IDS.

KORN/FERRY INTERNATIONAL (Los Angeles) -- Tom Putrim has joined this talent-management firm as a senior client partner and member of the global financial market, based in Chicago. Mr. Putrim, 40, joins from Russell Reynolds Associates Inc.

INTERPUBLIC GROUP OF COMPANIES Inc. (New York) -- Richard Beaven was named chairman and chief executive of Initiative Media Worldwide, a subsidiary of this media strategy, planning and buying company, effective March 1. Mr. Beaven, 41, succeeds Alec Gerster, 59, who is retiring. Mr. Beaven was chairman and CEO of Initiative North America, another subsidiary of this media company. The company hasn't announced a successor to Mr. Beaven, a spokesman said.

PEPSICO Inc. (Purchase, N.Y.) -- Ian M. Cook and Lloyd G. Trotter were named to the board of this beverage-and-snacks company, effective March 14. Mr. Cook, 55, is president and chief executive of Colgate- Palmolive Co. Mr. Trotter, 61, is vice chairman of General Electric Co. Their addition brings the number of directors to 12, and the number of independent directors to 10.

UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS Corp. (Tucson, Ariz.) -- This aircrafts system manufacturer and designer named Donald D. Berlin senior corporate vice president and to its board, effective immediately. Mr. Berlin, 66, succeeds Charles Edmondson, who has retired. The board stays at three. Mr. Berlin was chief operating officer. He is succeeded by Paul DeHerrera. Mr. DeHerrera, 54, was vice president of marketing and product support. He is succeeded by Daniel L. Reida. Mr. Reida, 47, was director of world-wide marketing. The company has yet to name a successor for this post, a spokesman said.
