Daimler AG: Ex-Manager Convicted In Embezzlement Case

A German court convicted a former Daimler AG manager of embezzling 22 million euros ($32.5 million) and sentenced him to 5 1/2 years in prison. Jurgen Schiefer, 42 years old, was convicted of falsifying signatures of his supervisors on bogus invoices for technology services never delivered. He also was convicted of forgery of documents and tax evasion. Three people who worked for Mr. Schiefer in the company's finance department were found guilty and fined last summer.
