Enron Corp.: Andersen Ex-Partner Settles SEC Civil Suit

David Duncan, a former partner of Arthur Andersen LLP, settled a civil lawsuit with the Securities and Exchange Commission over his involvement in the audits of energy company Enron Corp., the SEC said. The agency accused Mr. Duncan of violating antifraud laws. He agreed to be permanently suspended from appearing or practicing before the SEC as an accountant. He settled without admitting or denying the allegations. The SEC had alleged that Duncan was "reckless" in not knowing that the audit reports he signed for Enron on Arthur Andersen's behalf were false and misleading.
