J.Crew Chief Leaves Brand After 5 Years

Full Text (159  words)

J.Crew Group Inc. said its president, Jeffrey Pfeifle, will leave the company, effective Feb. 1. His responsibilities will be assumed by members of the executive team, and the apparel brand said it has no near-term plan to fill his position.

Chief Executive Millard Drexler said, "Jeff and I have had a successful collaboration for more than 15 years, with the last five at J. Crew. He has made significant contributions to our business."

Before both joined J. Crew in 2003, they were part of management at Gap Inc. Mr. Drexler was chief executive and president of Gap. Mr. Pfeifle was executive vice president of Gap's Old Navy division and vice president of its Banana Republic division.

After he took over at J. Crew, Mr. Drexler recruited Mr. Pfeifle to become the No. 2 executive.

The New York-based company, which started in 1983 as a catalog retailer before expanding into retail and factory-outlet stores, became a public company in 2005.
