Areva SA: Consortium Aims to Sell Two Reactors to South Africa
Full Text (106 words)
French state-controlled engineering company Areva SA will seek to sell two new-generation nuclear-power reactors to South Africa as part of a consortium including utility Electricite de France SA and construction company Bouygues SA, a spokesman for Areva said. Areva will lead the consortium, which will also include South African engineering firm Aveng Ltd., the spokesman said. The consortium plans to submit the offer at the end of January. Areva last week proposed the sale of two reactors to the United Arab Emirates, in partnership with France's Total SA and energy and environment conglomerate Suez SA. The French government has signed nuclear-partnership agreements with Algeria and Libya.
