China Eastern Air Holding Co.: Bid for Airline Questioned; Proposal Seen as Unofficial
Full Text (106 words)
The parent company of China Eastern Airlines Corp. said it questions the sincerity of China National Aviation Holding Co.'s offer to take a stake in the Shanghai-based carrier. On Sunday, the parent firm, China Eastern Air Holding Co., said a proposal it received Friday from CNAHC, the parent of Air China Ltd., was in the form of a letter, and didn't constitute an official bid as CNAHC had promised. China Eastern Air Holding also said the letter didn't show endorsements by CNAHC's directors or chairman. An official at CNAHC declined to comment on the statement, but said: "CNAHC is a responsible company that follows the rules."
