Allstate Corp.: Court Lifts Suspension Of Licenses in Florida
A Florida appeals court gave Allstate Corp. an immediate stay from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation's suspension of its licenses to sell new property/casualty insurance policies. The suspension had applied to Allstate's ability to write new home, auto, fire and marine insurance policies. Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty had acted after he said Allstate failed to comply fully with a subpoena in connection with a request for homeowner insurance premium increases of as much as 42%. A spokesman said Allstate believed it had complied with the subpoena. Allstate is based in Northbrook, Ill.
