The music and lyrics of Paul Simon will be celebrated by the Brooklyn Academy of Music with three programs in April. The series, Love in Hard Times: The Music of Paul Simon, will begin with Songs From 'The Capeman' (April 1-6), a concert staging of the 1998 Broadway show written by Mr. Simon, right, with lyrics by him and Derek Walcott. Among the performers will be Oscar Hernandez and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The second program, Under African Skies (April 9-13), will focus on Mr. Simon's passion for South African and Brazilian rhythms as reflected in the albums Graceland and The Rhythm of the Saints. Mr. Simon will be joined by David Byrne, Hugh Masekela, Milton Nascimento and others. The final program, American Tunes (April 23-27), will cover a wide range of Simon songs and feature Mr. Simon, the Brooklyn indie band Grizzly Bear, the bluesman Olu Dara, the Roches and others.
