In Their Own Own Words; [Text]

Full Text (242  words)

From a speech on Monday at a campaign rally in Fort Myers, Fla.:

The No. 1 question I'm asked about is the economy. People are concerned about the value of their 401(k)'s, their retirement accounts, if they're living on a fixed income. People are concerned about the future of their jobs, want to know if they're going to have good jobs, whether incomes are going to be rising. It's a question I get asked time and time again.

Senator McCain, as I said, is a terrific person, but as he's pointed out several times, he doesn't understand the economy terribly well, and I frankly can't imagine how you can have a president of the United States who doesn't understand how the economy works. I think it's time once again to make sure that you have a president who actually had a job in the private sector and knows how the private sector works. ...

We're going to change Washington. We're going to do the job that's been promised for so many years. I don't care whether Republicans or Democrats get credit. I don't care who settles what score. I don't care which favors are repaid. What I care about is we get America right again and we make sure that the America that our kids and our grandkids inherit is the strongest nation on earth and the most prosperous and is as it has always been, the hope of the earth.
