David Cone, who pitched a perfect game as a member of the Yankees in 1999, is nearing completion of a deal to work as an analyst for the YES Network. A YES spokesman would not confirm the imminent hiring. Cone, who pitched for the Yankees from 1995 to 2000, told teammates from the 1998 Yankees at an autograph show over the weekend that he was returning to YES, where he was a part-time analyst in 2002.YES needs to replace Joe Girardi, who left the booth to become the Yankees' manager, and David Justice, who chose not to continue in the studio so that he could oversee the rebuilding of his house in San Diego. His home burned down last year.Cone is expected to make at least 50 appearances for YES in the booth and the studio. Cone, who also pitched for the Mets, was also a candidate to join SNY as a Mets analyst before the 2006 season.
