Carolina Kostner of Italy held off a challenge by Sarah Meier of Switzerland on Saturday to retain her title at the European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Kostner finished with 111.97 points for the free skate and 171.28 over all. Meier moved to second from fourth, winning the silver medal for the second year in a row. She had 113.00 points for her free skate and 169.44 over all.
