13) What is your major? In what aspect of your major will you study? What does your major mean? Can you give an example of your topic that is applied in our living? My major is Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. It is the observational, theoretical studies and numerical modeling of the state and behavior of the Earth's Atmosphere and climate. Atmospheric models from regional to global scale. My research will focus on hydrometeorology. It is the branch of meteorology that deals with the measuring and modeling the atmospheric water, the occurrence, motion, and changes of state of the atmospheric water.

What was your former major? In what aspect of your major will you study? What does your major mean? Can you give an example of your topic that is applied in our living? Geomatics Engineering."Geo" comes from geography and "matics" comes from mathematics, the mathematics of the earth. It is the science, technology and art of analysis, modeling, interpretation and management of geographic data, such as hydrology and topology data. (Especially instrumental data, relating to the earth's surface.)These data come from air, sea-borne (satellite) sensors and ground-based instruments.

It has applications in all disciplines which depend on geographic data, including environmental studies, planning, engineering, navigation, geology and geophysics, land development and land ownership. 14) Why do you like your major? Why your specialty is important to China?I love the planet we live and I have a strong passion for earth science. Because it is promising in China. My solid background assures me excellent in this area. It is both academically complex and widely used. I love the problem-driven research since my teens. I like to spend a lot of time to handle the problem.

15) Why do you change your major? What's the difference between your major now and the major in USA? It doesn't change. They stress different parts of one discipline, hydrology of the land and hydrometeorology in the air. They are a whole system. The study of the hydrometeorology will make us aware of the cause and reason So that we can take precaution ahead of severe weather and disaster.

16) What is your academic background?(What institution did you attend and what's your major?)

What is your dissertation about? What is your specific research of your undergraduate paper?I got my B.Engn. in Wuhan University with honor. Since September 1998 to June 2002 .

17) When/where did you get your BS? I got my bachelor's degree with honor last June in Wuhan University at Geomatics Engineering department. Do you want to see the certification?

18) What/where are you working now? Why did you choose your present job? What have you done after you graduated from university? Why have you quit your job?Are you a worker or a student now? How many years have your worked? What have you done in your research? (What is your current project in your company? What are you responsible for in your present post?)Two years ago I began to choose my research area, to prepare for the future study and wait for the moment. And then the moment comes.I'm working as a research assistant in the laboratory of image processing of Wuhan Univ. since November 2001. Do you want to see the supporting letter from my advisor? My responsibility and research work is related to hydrology. To extract the ice and water from the images, figure out its exact location, and to make model of the behavior and trend of the ice-flood.The project is anti-ice flood along the Yellow River with the Yellow River Conservancy Committee.

19) What is your plan? (What will you do after graduation? Will you come back to this company after graduation? What is your dream? )

Do you plan to seek employment in the US after you have completed your studies? (You can also make more of this kind of money in US, why don't you want to earn more? Why you come back to China instead of finding a job in America? Why not pursuing a good job in U.S when you graduate as the opportunities will be very good there? )How much do you earn now? How much will you earn when you come back? To become a research leader and make research on hydrometeorology of the Yangtze River. I am very interested in studying the Yangtze River, I drink water from the Yangtze River, I swim in the Yangtze River, I live beside the Yangtze River for 23 years. It is my Mother River. The central government will invest more than forty billion Yuan in protecting the Yangtze River in the Tenth Five-Years Plan. And will put more.

I plan to build a lab and lead a research group, measuring and modeling study of the moisture and humidity in the atmosphere. Give more accurate, precise amount and location of rainstorm, typhoon, and other types of precipitation. Thus, we can give valued advice on water control arranging, production planning, civil planning and tourism guiding.

The Yangtze River Water Resource Committee invited professors from Tsinghua Univ. and Peking Univ. and pay them two hundred thousand Yuan per year.

I'm sure I can live a very good life with that salary. And take good care of my parents----I'm the only daughter of them, I love them very much.(后备:example, to build a TV channel like Wether.Com which gives forecasting around the clock.)

20) Give me three reasons that you will come back to China? Firstly, I am very interested in studying the Yangtze River. I drink water from the Yangtze River, I swim in the Yangtze River, I live beside the Yangtze River for 23 years. It is my Mother River. I am more familiar with it then Mississippi River, Missouri River and Hudson River. Secondly, I will have a bright future in China. My career objective is to be the research leader in this field in China. The central government also pays a lot attention to the hydrometeorology of the Yangtze River and invests more than forty billion Yuan in protecting the Yangtze River in the Tenth Five-Years Plan. And will be more in the next.Thirdly, I will come back to take care of my parents. I'm their only daughter. And I would like to be some help with my country. She is still a developing nation. What I learned in USA can be great help for her.

21) Can you explain why 90% Chinese students didn't come back? Really? If so, then the 90% are excellent but the rest are the best since they grow up with the growing-up of our country. I am among the 10% and feel the strong responsibility to develop my motherland.

22) When did you join the T/G test? How did you take GRE? What score did you get in T/G test? How long have you prepared for GRE? Did you cheat? This university gave me such a scholarship because of my excellent academic merits, ten points more or less in TOEFL score doesn't really mean anything to my real English proficiency. It is only a few weeks preparation away for me to achieve a high TOEFL score, not big deal.

23) Why your English are not yet proficiency as indicated in I-20?I stand here, talk to you. I will go to study and do research in the Umich. My English proficiency guarantees my future study and research and career.
